On Saturday 9th August the team from Herefordshire Carers Support were out in force as Sainsbury’s Store in Hereford launched us as its chosen Charity of the Year; Staff, Trustees, Young Carers and Volunteers teamed up with staff from Sainsbury’s to run a variety of stalls including Tombola, Books, Lucky Dip, a Pirate Treasure Hunt and Face Painting. As you can see from the photos, everybody joined into the spirit of the day and together we raised over £1300! Our fantastic Young Carers raised £460 bag-packing!
We would like to thank everyone who helped to make it such an enjoyable event; Pauline, Sue & Jade who did such a great job face painting; Laura Woolley and her energetic team who gave a great demonstration of FitSteps; The Dolloway Dancers who impressed the audience with their moves and the Salvation Amy Band who had us all singing along to their traditional tunes. We are extremely grateful to those of you who donated such lovely prizes.
We are really looking forward to working with Sainsbury’s throughout the year, not just to raise money which will be used to provide direct support to local unpaid Carers, but also to raise awareness about what being a Family Carer really means, and how employees can support Carers within the workforce.
Information is available in store together with registration forms – if you are a Family Carer, why not pick up a form next time you are shopping?
The winners of the various games are:
Chloe Davies – the contents of the Pirates Treasure Chest
Carol Addison – ‘Guess the Name of the Teddy’ – Cherry Cola
Jamie Lawson – ‘Guess how many Sweets in the Jar’ – there were 614 and Jamie guessed 618!
