Dear Parent and/or Carer
Herefordshire Council: Consultation on the Strategic Commissioning Plan for People with a Learning Disability
Over the past few weeks, I have been working with others to prepare a commissioning strategy for people with a learning disability for the three year period 2015 to 2018 and I would like the opportunity to discuss this with you and seek your views. In addition, I shall be seeking the views of colleagues who provide services to people with learning disability in the voluntary and private sector and professional colleagues who here in Herefordshire Council and the Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
As you can see from this letter, a total of four consultation events are being held around the county and this letter is being sent out by organisations that provide services to people with a learning disability. I know that some people attend the services of more than one organisation so you may receive this letter more than once.
At each consultation event, I will do a brief presentation outlining:
- The characteristics of a modern strategic commissioning plan.
- The direction that government is asking us to take in developing services for people with a learning disability. References to key government documents and legislation
- The characteristics of the local service and some local statistics.
- Some ideas about how Herefordshire could proceed in the future.
The floor will then be open for observations, comments and suggestions about what we do, how we are doing it and where we need to improve in the future.
