Marches Family Network is now based at: 11 Corn Square, Leominster, Herefordshire HR6 8YP. The telephone number (01568 614908) will remain unchanged.
Herefordshire Council are in the process of re-commissioning for short breaks for 2017-20 (starting April 1st 2017) and will no longer give block contracts to providers such as Marches Family Network. Instead, families will be allocated a Short Break Allowance which they may use to buy short breaks of their choice. This may be from one of the approved providers on the new council framework but does not have to be.
We have asked for information about how the new scheme will be introduced and how families go about receiving their allowance, which is likely to be based on each child’s SEN banding and target those in bands D and E. At the present time, we have not been given any information on this but we will continue to ask and let you know as soon as possible. In the meantime, any questions about the Short Breaks Allowance and short break provision in general from April 1st next year should be directed to Richard Watson, Children’s Joint Commissioning Manager at Herefordshire Council, telephone 01432 383047,email email@example.com
This will inevitably affect the way our Saturday and school holiday activity (play) days are booked and paid for, and the loss of direct council funding will mean sessions will be charged at closer to actual costs. The new rates will apply to bookings made using Direct Payments or those where there is no Short Breaks Allowance funding, although families using their Short Breaks Allowance to book will still only be asked to pay a contribution of £20.
THERE WILL BE NO CHANGE TO THE WAY WE TAKE BOOKINGS FOR OUR SPRING PROGRAMME (January to March). Booking forms (January – March 2017) are now available to download here: Hereford, Leominster, Shropshire, North Herefordshire and South Herefordshire.
We will send further details on the new system and charges in the New Year. Wishing you all a happy and restful Christmas, The team at MFN.
