One of our Carers who cares for her husband (with dementia) and has attended all of our free information and training sessions told us "he was confused and agitated but in a different way to usual". She recalled attending the Infection Control training here at Herefordshire Carers Support and the signs and symptoms of a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI); following instructions given on the course, the carer did a simple urine test which did indeed reveal a UTI. The carer then called her GP and following a couple of further questions, the GP prescribed anti-biotics which the Carer was able to collect straight away from their local pharmacy. An excellent outcome which shows the real value in investing in proper education andtraining for family carers.
