Young carers are children and young people who look after someone in their family who is physically or mentally ill, disabled or has a problem with drugs or alcohol.
Young carers may look after parents, care for a brother or sister, or other relative. They often take on practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities that would normally be expected of an adult.
Herefordshire Carers Support has an established programme to support Young Carers through activities just for them, run by Susan Brace. This year and for two more years it is funded by the BBC Children in Need charity.
